The election results for Florida are about as expected, although, at this moment, the governor’s race is still undecided. We might still get a Democratic governor in Alex Sink (a woman). Her opponent, Rick Scott, ran a company that was indicted for major Medicare fraud. He is a liar and a cheat and at least half of Florida either doesn’t know it or doesn’t care.
For the Senate, Charlie Crist our lame-duck governor, who left the Republican Party and ran as an Independent, didn’t make it because the incompetent Democratic candidate, Meek, wouldn’t withdraw and throw his support to Crist, which, it was claimed, Bill Clinton tacitly urged him to do. The president had to support Meek as the official Democrat but he preferred Crist. We all knew it. So now we have Rubio, an opportunistic Evangelical candidate, with the face of a cherub, and the demeanor of every grandmother’s favorite grandchild, and who will support interference in our personal lives to mirror his view of family values.
Reid made it in Nevada. I am grateful. Christine O’Donnell, the Tea Party twit running in Delaware lost. She has been running for something for the last 5 or 6 years, and has been living on political donations. When her donated money runs out, perhaps she’ll try to run for something else.
The Dems lost 100 seats in the House, the greatest loss since World War II. John Boehner, the Teflon Republican, will become the new Speaker. Pelosi will be delegated to the background. The Democrats will still hold the Senate. As I remember during this chaotic year, the Democratic House would pass a bill, then the Senate’s Democrats would lose as their Blue Dog members would side with Republicans and kill it. I said out loud that I didn’t see what good a Democratic majority was doing us since we couldn’t seem to work to pass any of Obama’s initiatives.
Michele Bachman made it in Minnesota, to my dismay. She’s in training to be the next Sara Palin. Minnesota seems, by its choices, to exemplify the infantile mindset of most of this country’s voters. There is a phrase I’ve heard from the therapeutic profession: “infant timeâ€. It means having the time sense of an infant whose needs must be met immediately and will scream until they are. I may have a t shirt made that says, “Instant gratification is not enough.†The infantile mind cannot conceive of patience, or understanding of what it takes to achieve a goal. And that is how many of our voters are reacting.
On this morning’s MSNBC news analysis program, Haley Barbour, Republican governor of Mississippi, and a patronizing sack of s…, stated his intention to declare next April whether or not he would run FOR PRESIDENT. I guess he’ll be neck and neck with Sarah Palin, because she is also about to declare for the race. Wow, what a choice.
Meanwhile, the news analysts, all minding their manners and being graceful, congratulated the Republican winners on their win. Gee, people, didcha hafta?
xx, Teal
I want one on those t-shirts you were talking about!
