My New Focus

With apologies to my blog friends who care about football, I was delighted to learn Fox would be the broadcast medium for the Super Bowl. I never watch Fox. I never watch the Super Bowl. Perfect.

I’ve been hearing a lot about the fun commercials and, after we solve a couple of annoying problems with our computer, I will get on You Tube and try to see a few.

My career as a writer of opinions continues to escalate … here is a list of what has been published so far that I just put together so as to keep track. The titles were added by the News-Press.

Sat., Feb. 1, 2014, Views scction, Mailbag, A28, Letter
“Naysayers Dismissed” (my blowback on two of the Republican responses to Obama’s SOTU)

Sat., Jan. 25, 2014. A29, Views / Guest Opinion
“Obama a statesman, Christie a hack” (response to Cal Thomas’ mini poll skewed to discredit the Left”)

Thurs., Jan. 30, 2014, A3, Cape Life North section, Letter
“Just Say No” (my response to Huckabee’s rant about women’s runaway libidos)

“Thurs., Jan. 9, 2014 A3 Cape Life North mailbag – Letter
“In denial” – response to letter from Walter J. Sevigny that defended the Tea Party

Sat., Nov. 30, 2013 A 31 Views / Guest Opinion
“Ill use of religion the root of all evil” – the way the devout have corrupted politics with their faith

Sun., Nov. 10, 2013 A41 Views / Sound Off, Opinion
“Elder Cruz should target Cuba, not U.S.” my report on Ted and his father, both major assholes

Sun., August 18, 2013 – A25 Views / Sound Off, Opinion
“Don’t let elitism keep you from getting help or helping others” – my defense of social programs

Fri., July 19, 2013, B5. Guest Opinion
“The Imprints of racism are all over the Zimmerman shooting”
December 5, 2011 – Letter
“Tea Party Backfires” Naming it as a destroyer of the Republican Party.

Sat., 12/11/10 – Letter
“Republican Surprise”
One paragraph on COLA denied to seniors.

I had a couple of others from 2004, 5, which I have lost track of ï‚– they were letters. One of them criticized George W. Bush and was the trigger that has permanently alienated Ed from my b.i.l.

The titles are from the editor. My photo appears with the opinions, and I am always notified when an opinion will appear. When something I send to my contact is diverted to the Letters column, I don’t get any notice, and no photo, of course, so I guess I’ll have to check every day since I am sending a lot of stuff. I can’t seem to stop writing.

A new friend, who is related to one of Ed’s wards and controls his family’s trust (meaning he sends Ed the money to pay the ward’s bills) was so taken with Ed’s account of my publishing “triumphs” that he suggested I appear on the Bill O’Reilly show, that he could (gasp) arrange since he knows him. But I think I’ll say no. I am not as quick on the uptake in person and when I write, I refine and edit and review  no chance to do that in a live interview and I fear I’d be slaughtered. I can be very funny at a party  but I don’t know if I could deal with someone attacking me on camera.

xx, Teal

I looked into the Hobby Lobby story and found the knitting forum is all atwitter. If we had a Hobby Lobby in Canada I would boycott it but the knitting community seems to have an abundance of religious zealots who believe Hobby Lobby is protecting their employees from an eternity in hell.

Marg, Hobby Lobby is disgusting trying to inflict their views on their
employees. Those people are so holier than thou.

Bill O'Reilly's show? Why on Earth would you want to appear on a comedy channel?(LOL)

If I thought I could succeed in holding my own and perhaps changing some minds, I would. But I am not confident that this is my forte, so I'd rather not try.
