5/29/13 Working with my new computer. I have a Word file called “Blognotes†– in it, at the top, because I want to see the most recent item first, I type and edit what I plan to post and when it is ready, I highlight and copy it, and insert it into the MyBloggers post page. My blognotes file is there, but it begins, not with the last item posted, but with posts from 2008. So I am starting a new file I am calling blognotes2013 because I don’t have the patience to totally reorganize the old file.
My iTunes podcasts from NPR are in the program but no new podcasts are being downloaded and I can’t find a way to sync the iPod. I’ll have to find out more about that. At least I am able to charge the iPod now. It’s an old Nano8 – the thingy that prevents the battery from losing charge doesn’t work. The battery itself is fine, but I have to keep it charging all the time. Can’t let it sit unconnected overnight, because the battery will go dead. I don’t like the new iPods – they are much larger. I want to be able to tuck it into my bra (yes, that’s the most convenient, particularly when I am riding my bike).
A techie at Staples (we went back for new speakers because the old ones aren’t working) showed me how to enlarge type and, here it is: anywhere you are that you want to enlarge something, press the “control†key and while holding that down, scroll up or down using the scroll key on the mouse (that, incidentally, I never noticed before). Now that’s easy. So far things I have enlarged have stayed that way, but even if they had not, it’s really easy now to make them bigger.
A Martha Stewart file cabinet we bought came unassembled. Ed is really annoyed about that. I called the store and said they should rethink their "easy" slogan.
Meanwhile, Hewlett-Packard has apparently made deals with software vendors, etc., to pre-load their offers into their new computers. Pop-ops are numerous, hard to get rid of, and interfere with computer use until you buy or figure out how to delete the offer. I was trying to get my E mail, kept getting interference, my E mail wouldn’t load, repeated error messages. Ed managed to get rid of the thing for me. This will go on a while until we get all the crap eliminated.
It seems that I have an obligation to write to Hewlett-Packard with my dissatisfaction. It won’t be pretty. Of course, they won’t give a damn, but I’ll feel better.
Xx, Teal
