Help

We have our new computer set up and I can sort of navigate it but I would like to refine it to make it easier. For instance, the typeface is too small and nowhere can I find how to enlarge it.

MyBloggers included. Can anyone tell me how to enlarge the typeface on MyBloggers.

Another maddening and as yet unsolved (can you believe it) problem is how to shut down. Nowhere on the srceen is there a shut down icon.

Ed has gone off to do guardian duties and I guess he will eventually address that problem.

xx, Teal (snarling)

Ed and I stopped by the Staples store today and bought new speakers (don't ask) and, while there, the techie showed me how to enlarge type. I am not anticipating a lot of problems anymore. Also the shut down button is hidden but now we know how to find it. Weird.

It's Windows 8 - totally different from any previous Windows.

It's ridiculous, but this is how you shut down Windows 8: Mouse over the little gadget in the lower right corner of the screen. (You can also move your mouse cursor to the upper left corner; same result. Or, you can press Windows-C on your keyboard.)

2. In the slide-out menu (known as the Charms Bar) that appears, click Settings.

3. Click the Power button, and then click your desired action: Sleep, Shut down, or Update and restart.

You can create a shortcut on the desktop so you don't have to dive in so deep to get there:

Usually, in your Internet browser there is a View menu item and you can use that for just the browser. For the whole computer, to increase the text size, go into Settings again and look for Display.
