Disaster!

HELLO EVERYONE FROM SUSIL! HORRIBLE EVENT LAST WEDNESDAY.
I WAS STANDING AT THE SINK LAST WED.AND LET GO OF BOTH WALKING STICKS TO WASH MY HANDS. I IMMEDIATELY FELL BACKWARD INTO THE BATHTUB,LANDING WITH MY HEAD THUDDING AGAINST THE WALL,MY BUTT AND TORSO IN THE TUB AND LEGS STICKING UP IN THE AIR.
FOR TWO DAYS AND NIGHTS I WAS IN THAT METAL TUB, SCRABBLING TO GET OUT. I TRIED EVERYTHING.TRYING TO HOOK MY UPPER ARMS OVER THE RIM OF THE TUB AND PULL MY BODY OUT ETC. I TRIED EVERY POSITION AND TECHNIQUE I COULD,SEEING AS HOW MY LEGS ARE PRACTICALLY USELESS TO PROVIDE ANY LEVERAGE.

THE NIGHTS WERE HORRIBLE,I HAD TO PEE IN THE TUB AND DOZE OFF BETWEEN EFFORTS TO GET OUT WITH MY HEAD RESTING ON THE RIM OF THE TUB. AS THE TIME PASSED, I STARTED TO HALLUCINATE. I THOUGHT I HEARD PEOPLE IN THE HOUSE AND OTHER BIZARRE THINGS. FRIDAY,MY DAUGHTER ZEE IN TEXAS BECAME CONCERNED BECAUSE I HADN'T MADE OUR DAILY PHONE CALL. SHE CALLED A COUSIN WHO LIVES 2-MILES AWAY FROM ME,HE FINALLY SHOWED UP AND FOUND ME AND CALLED THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND A DEPUTY SHOWED UP AND THEY HAULED ME OUT OF THE TUB, STINKING AND DEHYDRATED AND DELUSIONAL.

THEY SAT ME IN A WHEELCHAIR AND I REFUSED AN AMBULANCE, SOON AFTER, I FELL OUT OF THE WHEELCHAIR. I DIDN'T KNOW MY DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW WERE RUSHING OVER FROM TEXAS. I WAS TRYING MEANWHILE, ON THE KITCHEN FLOOR, TO CRAWL ON MY ELBOWS AND KNEES TO REACH A CHAIR AND TRY TP PULL MYSELF UP

SO DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW ARRIVED AND OVER SEVEN HOURS LATER FOUND ME AND I WAS TAKEN TO THE E.R.AT FOREST GENERAL HOSPITAL, BRUISED AND SCRAPED ALL OVER AND MY LEGS PARALYZED. I AM WRITING THIS FOM MY HOSPITAL BED. MY RIGHT LEG IS USELESS NOW AND I WILL PROBABLY WINDUP IN A NURSING HOME.
THIS IS MY DAUGHTER'S OLD LAP TOP AND WISH I COULD TALK TO YOU ALL,BUT USING HOSPITAL'S WI-FI FOR NOW.KEEP ME IN UR PRAYERS.
LOVE TO ALL,
SUSIL:)

Oh Sue, this is the first I have heard of this. It is awful and of course
you can cope at home with a wheel chair and a med alert device. Love you
and I am glad family came to the rescue.

Oh my goodness. Things just went to heck in a handbasket, that's for sure. I am so sorry, and hope you get straightened out and back on your feet soon. Sending hugs.

This is horrible and yes you should have an life alert. No stay out of the nursing home.
You do not need this.Take one day at a time. This is very scary.Surely you have learned something from this.Speedy recovering. We missed you and thank cat dancer for alerting us.

My goodness Sue I Sure wasn't this for your first post back. That had to be a nightmare being helpless for that long. Don't know if you got my PM or not. I passed out and fell twisting my ankle(hopefully thats all) I will pray for you and put you on the prayer-list at church. Wishing a speedy and full recourery.

So sorry about your fall. It's good that you had family so close! Hope you will recover soon. I agree with Tealstar, a medic alert device would have spared you all the trauma of waiting two days to be discovered.

I've missed you so much! Of course this isn't the way I wanted to hear from you. I cannot imagine what you went through - it sounds like a real nightmare. I hope your leg will heal - perhaps some P.T. and O.T. will help. Sending you warm thoughts.

Hope you see this. How awful for you. No, no nursing home. Get a medic alert devoce and wear it always and you can get help right away. It would be dreadful for you to lose your space now. It is late at night now -- if you can, post name of hospital and if you have a phone at bedside, the no. and I will call you. Love you, sweet thing. What a scare.
