So while we were stalled in this horrific jam, Camille and Raquel arrived at my house thinking me and Holly would have been back from Hattiesburg. They phoned and asked if I had a spare house key in the laundry room etc. so they could get in. Nope, did not. So bless their hearts, they went to the store and got things for BBQ and got my little grill out and started cooking.
Meanwhile I was about to have a heart attack worrying about them in the heat. I said take a credit card or an old butter knife etc. and get in. Instead when Holly and I got detoured around this frickin horrid jam and I delivered that document, we rushed home two and a half hours late to find them in the backyard, Camille BBQing chicken, and Raquel cutting up tomatoes, cilantro, onions and jalapenos to make pico de gallo, and they had made quacamole. These are pioneer women who can get the job done! (Thank goodness for a frige on the carport.)
BTW, found out next day the busiest traffic lanes in Hattiesburg were closed because a loaded log truck had flipped and spilled logs all over both east and west bound lanes and took 24 hours before it was all cleaned up and open again.
But this is the thing--under the carport, a breeze was blowing and they said they had enjoyed listening to the mockingbirds and woodpecker and watching the birds who built a nest in the mop bucket.
Camille helped me fill up three photo albums with loose photos that have been bugging me for years.
They cleaned the posts on the front porch and the rocking chairs with soap and bleach and sprayed it all down--looks like new. They had told me to make a list of what needed done, so I did, and they stayed busy. The house looks so much better.
Thursday new bed was delivered, and Camille vacuumed and put up my painting in there. We crammed so much into that week, I can't believe it we are all exhausted. But I did make friends with little Cisco. I had made chicken and dumplings and gave some to Cisco, and he lapped it up! Then gave him some stewed squash and fresh green beans with new potatoes--he ate it up. Well a puppy who like my cooking is all right with me. He wagged his little tail, and hopped over with his little casted leg and his puppy eyes met mine and we're in love.LOL
They left going back to Texas this morning. Blue and sad now. susil
