News from Mississippi

iIt's been a looong time since  I've been on MyBloggers and God knows I've mised it so much! Due to no funding from  bhe county Board of Supervisors and lacklluster interest from the State, all the libraries in Perry County have been closed, Today I'm  at the Lucedale Library, 25 miles from home--one way--.
At least today is gorgeous--clear and sunny and cool  last night. The goldenrod is blooming and fall is coming. Tuesday a church lady drove us to Lucedale to eat at Aunt Jenny's, a strictly country buffet. I only go once a month because I eat too much,On Tuesday's  they feature fried green tomatoes==love  them. They also make the best fried chicken and sweet potato pie.
Welll, a month ago I went to a BOS (Board of Supv.) meeting and griped about teenagers (I call 'em hoodlums) who aew riding 4 wheelers up and down the road I live, and some of these  punks left deep ruts in the ditch at he end of my property, It must be fun to  go thru standing water and totally mess up and destroy other people's property. I was really pi--ed. I said these hoodlums go on public roads and do whatever they please, whereas if I want to drive on a public road I have to have a driver's license, insurance, buy a new sticker for the license plate every  year, wear a seatbelt, etc, and they do not!  WHY NOT?  They are tearing up the national forest lands.
So then I squawked about having NO animal control in our county, People dumo their unwanted cats and  dogs off along my road, and somehow they all wind up at my houise. I don't have pets cause I can't take care of them, and have an unfenced yard. So it was yawn city  for the BOS, nothing will be done.  Sometimes I think frustration is what keeps me alive!  OH OH,  running out of minutes--later, y'all.

It's a sign of crumbling civilization when libraries are disappearing. I find kids in the wild a little scary, when they have the money for quad runners. Those should require licenses. Hold the fort.

Thanks for reading mause! I was so ticked off I called the governor's office and griped. Spoke with "an assistant" who blew me off and said to call the sheriff's office about the hoodlums. Sheriff says not enough money to hire another deputy to answer calls. However, one library was reopened--that's where I am now. The assistant said "The state is broke--what do you expect us to do??{" Nothing of course, This is Mississippi.

So pleased you managed to connect. Sorry about the libraries, and your frustrations are well taken. We're lucky in my area not to be plagued with too much teen mischief although about 4 years ago a bunch of renegades did slash tires in the middle of the night in at least 25 driveways. I hope you manage to connect again. So sorry you can't get on line more often. hugs from the other boonies, T.

Hi lovely teal! Well, when AT&T stopped providing dial up internet, and never provided my neck of the woods with DSL, UVERSE and whatever is coming down the pike, I was cut off, dammit!

It is wonderful to hear from you. Our autumn weather is fantastic too.
I can't believe libraries would actually be closed. It is a toss up
on whether your state is more reactionary than mine. I love southern
comfort food especially sweet potato pie.

Love U Jeri; I finished my rant with the governor's assist. by saying this state is at the bottom of every list because of inertia, apathy, and bus8iness as usual. sigh...

Good to hear from you again. I always wonder how folks are when they disappear for awhile unless I know them on facebook. I know the frustration of ####### kids. Don't have any problem here but my last house on the other side of the mountains was on a corner. I'd bet punks cutting across the neighbors property and my yard. The one little bastard would say, "my dad owns a business in this town, I can do whatever I want". So happy to be gone from there! L8er,

jj how are you? I swear if I wasn't too old I'd leave this place in a minute but as it is I'm gonna have to stick here and put up with a lot!

What a shame to close all the libraries, right up there with book burning. I'll bet strictly country buffet in the heart of the south is a marvelous thing to see. City folks think the country is no-man's land that nobody cares about, don't realize that what seems like the middle of nowhere is somewhere to somebody.

So happy to hear from you! It's sickening that people just dump their pets to die out by you. I've gotten involved in dog rescue in a much bigger way than before. It's heartbreaking to read about these stories. Too bad they can't put the kids to work caring for the unwanted pets - doing something constructive might teach them some values. And keep em off your road.
