On Saying No

Last week, while babysitting, I asked my grandson, Jonny, if he needed to go to the bathroom (26 mo old). He flatly stated "no". Again I asked him. "No". 30 seconds later, there he stood all wet in front.

Republican Congress members remind me of Jonny. They would rather say no and wet their pants before admitting to "defeat". Compromise is not in their vocabulary. Spite. Hatred of our President. Politics. It makes me sick.

Amazingly, they don't seem to understand the backlash their decision(s) will result in. Obstructing common sense programs and policies will only irritate American voters. Even Republicans vote with their pocketbooks.

Like my grandson, being obstinant and bull-headed will only lead to humiliation and self-defeat. Grow up children.

The word is idiocy but whatever works. I'll take good legislation any way we can get it. If it is by default because the Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot, instead of the Democrats being brilliant, I am not going to complain. Boehner went into the speaker's job all quar and trembly -- it was the wrong move. He caters to the Tea Party whose votes put him there. He was screwed from the git go. He made a deal with the Devil and now has to dance to their tune.

Indeed! Well said, dear T.

I am hoping that the masses are waking up and regretting their 2010 choices that have resulted in the grid lock now gripping the Republicans. Boehner is now a puppet of these newcomers.

What goes around, comes around. Every time I lose faith in our system, something miraculous happens to change my opinion. We Democrats will prevail if, for no other reason, due to the idiocacy of the other side. (Is that a word?)

Every debate, every campaign, every TV commercial in 2012 having to do with the election, is going to wrap that albatross (their tax increase) around the Tea party Richpublikans' necks. LOL

That's why I'm hoping (in a way) the payroll tax cut fails. I have a bit of a devious nature in me.

Right on, Fredo! I just tune them out (or try to). Plus they're so divided, I agree with your confidence that Obama will be reelected. For our country's sake, I certainly hope so!

What an interesting analogy.

Think so, eh?

Unfortunately, too many Americans believe the Republican B.S. and spin. This is going to be an interesting election year.

Yep--too many Rush and Beck followers. Time will tell.

The GOP House doesn't give two hoots in hell for 99 percent of the people of the country. You are so right and they will pay the price when voters send them home from the voting booth in November 2012.

After two elections that gave us GW Bush, I was a nervous wreck the day of Obama's election. I don't trust the American voter. Consequently, I'll be on pins and needles come next Nov. 6th.
