Here our country is involved in all sorts of vital issues, be it Libya (or the whole Middle East), Japan, China (oh heck--the rest of the world!), unemployment, debt, etc., etc., and what is the House of Representatives debating?: Whether or not our national motto, E Pluribus Unum, should be changed to "In God We Trust". (Thanks to Rep. Randy Forbes, VA --Republican, of course). Like this is going to make the United States a better country, or solve some of our major problems. Brother.
I spent my birthday (two days ago) house bound. I vacuumed and dusted, made almond bark pretzels, did my exercises (that's a given), and did a few other mundane things. In other words, it was pretty much a typical "day in the life". I got one card--from my investment man, one email from my California daughter, that's it. But that's okay. I deserve nothing, because I seldom send birthday cards (I do send email wishes).
Now, since my father's birthday is the day after mine (and I was born 6 min. before midnight), our family often combines celebrations. This evening, one sister (Carole) is hosting a dinner for 4 generations of Smiths--about 8 of us. I'm hoping we'll all get along--no family feuds.
I plan to escape to the TV room to watch Butler vs. Florida, a game being played right at eating time. Boo.
I've stayed up way past my bedtime the last two nights watching the NCAA games. I try to sleep late, but my internal alarm goes off. I wanted to get out for a run today. However, it's 30 degrees and quite windy. More basement "boxing". Yesterday, I boxed to Beethoven's 5th, which was exhilerating! Sometimes, the beat of the music matches my "dancing" around the bag. Then I get pumped up. A Bach Brandenburg or a Vivaldi piece sets me aflying. I'll vary the music with some jazz--Count Basie or Pete Fountain.
Sorry to bore you, my friends. But I had to write something!
Have a good weekend. For me, food and basketball are on the agenda!
