Or should that title be "Ode to Joy"?
Here's sort of a weekly summary of "Life with Randy".
All in all, it was a good week.
But........., I offered to take my father grocery shopping yesterday. He's without a car (which he bemoans, but I reminded him that it was his decision to give his car to my manipulative sister, who gave her car to her grandson). He's in the market for a Ford Focus. Oh dear me.
We made two stops, Walmart and Aldi. I think I deserve some sort of medal. It was an exercise in patience. Two hours, one in each store! Banana decision: too green, a bruise on one, too many, too few, etc. Cheeses: too ANYTHING! Cereals: oh, brother. The broccoli I choose was "too stemmy", so he had to sort through all of them. Well, you get the drift. Mercy. He is, after all, nearly 95, and still in great health.
After dropping Dad off, I went to the Court House to vote early (straight Dem.). That felt good. While there, I did some preliminary research on my kids house history. Nothing yet on the actual house, but the land it once sat on (before it was moved to its current spot), did belong to my great grandfather. So I'm sure it's all connected. The house/farm project is going well, by the way. I'll post some pics soon.
I babysat "Champ" (my name for him) two days ago. We had a blast playing. I relish my role as grandfather. I only had one, and he was aloof. My own father, too, never played with my kids--he just berated them. I've learned how not to act.
6 week old Macy smiled at me! Then pooped.
Looks like a good weekend to get out and be active. More bricks to lay for my driveway, yard and garden work, and hiking the countryside. Life is good. Enjoy.
