The Misfits

Rare for me, I watched a movie the other night on Turner Classics. Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe in "The Misfits" (1961). It was the last complete movie for both of them. And what a classic it was. I don't remember ever seeing it. I would have been entering college at the time of its release.
None of the actors appeared to be acting--they seemed so natural. I think Marilyn was being Marilyn. So tragic. And really, the same goes for Clark.
If you haven't seen it, I recommend renting it.

That's all I have for today!

Yes, it was almost the last time USA actors acted naturally. Since then they have become progressively more hysterical. turn the sound off when watching USA sit-coms and movies and you discover you are watching slightly crazed men and women who over react both facially and bodily. then watch a European movie and see normal people.

Clark Gable was a hunk, particularly as Rhett Butler and all girls wanted to look like MM.

From your article and the comments, it sounds like one that perhaps I should get!

For awhile it seemed like Turner was colorizing all the old black and whites. Maybe they've stopped. There are so many movies we never saw, either because we were in college, or because we never go to theaters. The last movie I saw in a theater was Jurassic Park when it first came out.

Shot in black and white, some people [like me] put it in the late film noir genre. None of the stars would last much longer, so the movie became kind of a cult thing.
You have inspired me to buy the DVD.

I love watching the Turner Classics and seeing all the old actors and actresses when they were in their prime.

I have seen it, but so long ago that another view would not be a bad idea! You have a great day! The sun is shining so brightly here; it makes me want to dance!
