Ketchup Day

If you haven't read Susan Jacoby's "The Age of American Unreason", you should. Very insightful.

Barack Obama's European trip seems quite successful. Did you see the poll results of his popularity over McCain? Why isn't it the same in the U.S.? We know the answer.

Besides my usual morning golf and evening jog, I've gotten a few things done this past week. I picked another gallon of berries--black, this time. Washed half my house windows. Not my favorite chore. One storm window crashed down and busted the frame, so that took time to repair. Of course, there's the lawn and garden to maintain. I think I'm turning green from eating all my veggies--mostly stir fried.

Accompanied my father to the dentist (where my daughter works). We all ate lunch together and had a good time. Nothing like family bonding.

I've also tried to make time to play the piano and to get on the computer. And, of course, I must read for at least 2 hours each day. That gives me enough time to sleep about 4 hours. Just kidding. 8 plus a nap.

Now I must vacuum, etc., and wash the rest of the windows. And tonight I serve Lions Club ice cream for 3 hours. I'm lobbying for more hours in the day! I'll never "ketchup"!

It sounds to me like your are busy and productive, but not frantic or frazzled. Kudos to you! And your prolific berry-picking leaves my mouth watering — so many sweet treats, so little time! So yummy! Do you ever sun-dry your berries or make jam?

I'm worn out just reading about your busy day!
Good for you for being so active, berryman!

you cannot reason with some people. They cannot see that America has become a government done to the people instead of a Govt by the people. You can't impose your will on other countries and take away our freedom.

Obama's popularity in Europe - well over a hundred thousand enthusiastic T-shirt wearing supporters of every age and ethnicity, is an expression of the hatred felt for Bush in europe, and a desperate hope that the USA will stop it's policy of installing and supporting whatever foul dictator will do its bidding, while invading and quelling every country that doesn't do as big brother USA says. I fear it will have the opposite effect in the USA where most people seem to think the rest of the world are ignorant savages. therefore they must be wrong and, more to the point - no one is going to tell us who to vote for!
Personally, i suspect it would be better for the planet if McCain got in, then more of the same would mean the USA would implode and return to the dark ages and get off everyone's back and consume itself with civil war and revolution and stop being the world's bully-boy.

You da man. Our local paper ran a photo of Barack in Berlin holding up his hand to wave at someone or make an oratory point, and it came out looking like a Nazi salute because of the camera angle - I'm sure the news people intended it that way; irritating.

I've always envied people like Churchill who reputedly got by with only 3 or 4 hrs sleep per day. What a productive and multifaceted person!

If you had more hours, you'd likely just find more to do!
