Today, April 6, my mother, Dorothy Pauline Silverthorn, was born in 1918. She died of cancer in 2001. I miss her.
I titled this post the way I did because, despite the date, it seems like summer. I've been doing all the things I do two months early. Of course, it's due to the incredible weather we've been having. I did have to cover up some plants last night with a predicted frost. That's okay. No harm done.
Anyhoo, doin's include getting my "summer" haircut, mowing yard, working garden up and planting, spraying fruit trees and weeds, etc.
I mentioned gathering bricks from a dilapidated one-room school house down the road. Well, I've been cleaning and laying them to extend my brick driveway. Tedious, but somehow fun.
I also cut a load of firewood yesterday and took time to hunt for mushrooms. Found 4 morels for supper! That's a month early for around here.
Of course, I've found time to play golf 4 days a week--jogging or walking, if not golfing. Just think, I could be in a classroom right at this moment! Life is good.
I planted peas, potatoes, radishes and spinach today. Thanks for your potato tip. I am taking a chance.
