Day Watch

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood." I feel guilty sitting here at the computer.
But, I'm about to leave and drive down to my daughter's to see them and my grandson (45' drive). They need help harvesting vegetables, so no golf today.
Speaking of which, my game has been lousy up until yesterday. Finally, I played well. I was beginning to think "old age" had hit my golf game.

I treated my one sister to lunch yest. for her birthday. Very disappointed in Pizza Hut--remodeled with a new, but poor salad bar.
My other sister (they're twins) is in Chicago attending her son's family with a boy (2 yrs old) in the hospital with pneumonia. Who knows how bad he is. The parents panic with every little cough or cut. It's right out of "the boy who cried wolf". I'm predicting it's nothing.

Spent a hour or so with my father yesterday. Took him some strawberries and asparagus which he appreciates. He says he's "getting back in shape" walking more and more, regaining his stamina after a winter of hip pain and enphysema. He was in a jolly mood, enjoying life once more.

My garden and yard is looking good. So far, I'm keeping up with it. I've also added about 125 sq feet of bricks to my driveway--bricks that came from a partially fallen old one-room school house down the road. I have to chisel the mortar off of them. Slow process, but looking good.

Ah May! A wonderful month!

I'm glad you mentioned asparagus - it reminded me that I picked two spears and left them in the garage. I took the kids to a "flash mob" this morning. It was for the hockey marathon for kids - a 10 day around the clock hockey game raising over 1 million for the children's hospital and a guiness book of world record attempt for longest hockey game! It was fun!

I think asparagus is the easiest thing to grow, harvest, and prepare to eat than anything! Plus, I love it. Hope you have a great summer.

Must be a relief to find it was just a golf funk.
Summer came early. 30C/86F yesterday. Big change from last week with highs of 13C/55F.

Haven't hear any updates, so just waiting. I'm not attached to him or anything.

It's lovely in Northwest Ohio, too. So nice to enjoy the bright warm joy of May. Sending healing wishes to your great nephew.

I heard on the news whooping cough is hitting the US hard. Wonder if he has that? He had a cough two weeks ago.

Hard to believe it's May already isn't it? Halfway through to boot. Sheesh. Anywho! So nice of you to help your daughter with the harvest. I hope the 2 yo is fine as you predict - would you feel guilty if it was something bad?
