Life & Events > Ah, July!

Ah, July!

Another favorite month of mine is July. For some reason, it seems to be the heart of the year--the mountain peak, so to speak.

I like hot temps. The winds calm down (usually). Everything is as green as it can get. Crops are bursting up and out. My garden has filled out where I can't see between the rows anymore. That means less weeding.

I'm virtually eating out of the garden--broccoli, cabbage, kale, chard. Tomatoes are coming on!

I walked and ran 23 miles Sat, Sun, Mon. It was wonderful to marvel at the countryside. I love walking/hiking. Jogging, too.

Sister Barb had a great meal last night (the 4th). Just 3 of us, including Dad. We had a good time conversing. Didn't stay around for the fireworks, visible from Barb's yard.

But I did watch PBS's "celebration" show. Did you see Steve Martin and his bluegrass band? He's an incredible banjo player.

That's it for today. Have a good one.

Here July was always warm and dry as well. Last years however this month is more and more a rainy one with hard winds as well.... august is better nowadays.

Your temperature yesterday had to be a lot lower than ours. It was l04
in the shade. I can't water until about 8:30.

Not being a morning person I wouldn't know if they serve breakfast! Are there still mornings????

I know your summer temperatures are nothing like ours or you couldn't do 23 miles.

Believe me, it gets hot (and humid) up here. But we seem to have a 3 day cycle, unlike your "full time". Hope you're doing okay.

If you are going to walk 23 miles the Golden Corral is a goo9d destination--and then you have the 23 mile walk back so you'll undo the 'damage' or at least some of it

I may not want to come home. Do they serve breakfast?

Glad you had a nice time with family. Not growing anything edible here. It's too hot to walk but I do anyway and suffer and drink lots of water and that's the only thing that makes it possible. If you were down here now, I wonder, would you be jogging for miles? Only perhaps at 5 a.m.

My father used to jog in the heat, year 'round. I used to think he was crazy, but here I'm doing the same. Believe me, it gets hot in Indiana. You remember Chicago's heat and humidity.

Even my poor excuse for a garden (compared to yours) is growing with our warmer weather. I might get one or two ripe tomatoes before first frost, but it's fun watching the progress.

Have the Mr. to build you a "cold frame" greenhouse. Either that, or move to the flatlands!

everything sounds great with all the fresh vegetables.
Have you ever seen a round zucchini
It is organic and will post this on my blog when I get around to it.
Glad that you have a nice visit there with the family.

Hope I don't bore my readers with my mundane daily events. I enjoy reading yours and others--that is, when I have the time!

I'm envious, only because I want to feast on their ribs is see advertised. Yum yum. My closest one is about 23 miles, in fact.

I'll continue "hitting the pavement" as long as I can. Hopefully, it won't kill me!
