Writing as I See It

I have been writing for a number of years, and I feel that I have improved as time passes. For the most part I'd say that experience plays a large part in my growth, but just as important would be the people that I come in contact with. For I am of the belief however ordinary that you feel your life is you have a story to be told, Martin has shown me that time and time again. I inquire and I ask questions, I guess it's a natural curiosity I possess. I never have taken any structured writing class in my life, and I wonder if it could teach me anything at this point. I just love to sit here and write, could be from love to baseball..and I will readily admit to my ignorance if I am unfamilar with a topic. I started out writing because it made me feel better, less lonely and a perfect outlet to a lot of crap that occupied my life. I found now I have a certain talent to be able to place words together, that a wide segment of society can understand and appreciate. For those that read my blog I appreciate you taking the time to do so, It is heartening to know that in some small way I have touched you. I have had an amazing life, and hope there are many more years to go. But in life the unexpected can happen, and nothing is written in stone..excet headstones. But I feel good and look forward to blogging for many more years, and have Martin hounding me about when will I write a book. Kristy will tell us about the 100th dog she's taken in, and her TV debut on "Animal Hoaders". Fredo..well he'll be in the US Open (tennis)in doubles competition with John McEnroe. If not I hope you all will still be here to pat me on the back or kick me in the can(when I need it).

I disagree with the ladies about taking a class--what you need to do is start sending you poems out to magazines and get feedback from editors--the best teachers in the world! I have nothing against writing classes but you know what they say about teaches and I think it holds true about those who teach writing classes.
KEEP WRITING!!!

It depends on whether you might want to write a book, if so, I think a class might be helpful, as Joan says - you've got the raw talent but it helps you refine your style and gives you new ideas.

I personally believe everyone can benefit from instruction when they have a gift...and you do have a gift. It's like a child prodigy; they become even more of a genius from years of training, whether it be a musical instrument, sport (I think of Tiger Woods), or writing. You should think about taking some classes in creative writing. I'll bet you would really enjoy them.
