The writer traveled
From big city, to small town
Taking pieces of life
From every road he went down.
He wrote about life and death
Of sunset's and sunrises
Lives that were ending
And joy in a child's eyes.
Happiness and achievement
Remorse and regret
Realizing with sadness
Life was as good as it was going to get.
He also saw strength
Spirits that bended, but did not break
Losses that were unfathomable
Most times it was hard to take.
But his journey continued
Weaving a tapestry note for note
As an artist painting a picture
Describing life as he wrote.
He saw mountains majestic
That touched the sky
Sometimes feeling melancholy
A tear would come to his eye.
It came time to go home
Not wanting to travel any longer
While journeying on that highway
The urge became less stronger.
He bid the highway goodbye
A bittersweet farewell
But there would be more writers
With still more stories to tell.
