Frosty was the morning
Upon the window pane
Winter was upon us
Yet but once again.
The tree was in the corner
A wisp of evergreen where it stood
Outside the snow blanketed the ground
Tossed on like a giant white hood.
The afterglow of the embers
A smoldering orange glow in the fireplace
Watching the remaining stars disappear
As they fade into space.
The sky brought a chill
Casting a shadow of gray
Beautifully non-descript
Not just another day.
Smoke from the chimney
Billowing gently toward the sky
Not unlike an caged bird
Released to fly.
Lights that were recently strung
Decorated the house and tree
Gave the home a warm glow
So quietly and silently.
Opening our hearts
And also our home
To celebrate, to share
For those no wanting to be alone.
We give a blessed thanks
For everything, everyday
Not just yesterday, tomorrow
But especially for today.
