Trailer Park Chronicles-chapter 4 (Cont.)
After Harriet left Laura and I went back to our coffee, there was a silence that seemed to last forever..until Laura spoke. "So what do you think of the offer Josh?", well I said "It's tempting, it'd be nice too stay in one place for awhile". But, I continued, "I've got nowhere to stay, and you're the only people that I know here". Laura then spoke, "Well as for a place to stay, I know it's not much but you could stay here..it'd be nice to", and her voice trailed off. She continued, "Anyway we'd like to have you for as long as your staying". The options were swirling around in my head faster then a washing machine spin cycle and maybe if I had thought about it more I would have made a different decision. "Okay", I said, "I'll go inform Harriet that I'll take the job". Laura's face lit up like a child on Christmas Day, "Oh this is really great", Laura said. "The kids will be so happy that you're staying", Laura said. "Well let me go down to Harriet's, by the way which is her place?", I said "Also", I continued, "I might get lost and make a wrong turn". "You can't miss it", Laura said, "It's the purple and green trailer just as you enter the park", she went on, "It's has all these lawn ornaments on it, I think she has more decorations then lawn", Laura laughed. I noticed how pretty she really was, maybe not in a physical way but in a way that surrounded her and shined through any imperfection she might have. After I got my shoes on and threw some water on my face I told Laura, "Well I'm off, wish me luck". "Luck", she said, as she lightly touched my arm.
