We write of what is important
Things that matter the most
Whether it be a beautiful sunrise
Or some jelly on toast.
A love or a line
That has touched your heart
Or a friend that you miss
From whom you've grown apart.
A love in your past
A letter you did not mail
Chances that you did not take
A ship you let set sail.
Moments that you remember
Or you wish you could forget
Times that brought happiness
Or filled you with regret.
Mountains that we did not climb
Because of your inner fear
Not telling someone you cared
And they are no longer here.
So I sit here and write
About the things for which I care
And what brings me happiness
Is that I am able to share.
