Just Talking

Well it is a Tuesday morning here in Utica, NY..and lo and behold the sun is shining!! This summer has been pretty bizarre, most of the weekends were filled with rain..and sometimes chilly weather. My 3 kids have been sick to some degree for the last week, so it has been a little quieter here..except for the moans and groans of future Oscar contenders. We had a reunion of my mom's side of the family Saturday, it was really great to see alot of relation that you would only see at funerals. I've been on facebook a few weeks now, it is an amazing site. I have reconnected with a lot of people that I have lost track of in the span of my lifetime. I have talked to several people that I was stationed with In the Army nearly 25 years ago! We are an older group of guys now, it's amazing what time can do. I remember when I went to my 30th high school reunion a couple of years ago, and I was amazed how no matter how time moves on some people choose to not move with it. I think they are either incapable or unwilling to change, I feel in many ways I have changed with the times either for the good or bad. I see life a bit clearer, especially with my "Dollar Store" reading glasses(which it seems several of my male classmates are in possession of). I may not be exactly where I want to be at this point in my life, but until then I am happy where I am. People like to complain about their lives, instead of trying to make the best of what they have and building from that. They also want to blame someone else but themselves, everybody from the President to their neighbor is used as an excuse. I try to take each day as it comes and I purposely set my expectations lower..that way I don't get disappointed as much. While sitting here on the front porch I will wave at a passing car, say good morning to a pedestrian..or even wave at the old lady who walks her dog in front of her house just up the street. So now I will return to my cup of coffee while I watch the morning dew glisten on the grass, and wish everybody a happy day!!
