Heaven, and Other Random Thoughts

Today it is one of those typical fall days, chilly overcast and a little on the gray side. It is the perfect day to be inside and maybe do a little writing. Whatever your religious belief maybe when we were children we were taught about heaven and of course hell. Heaven was portrayed as a very beautiful place, where everything was perfect and you never wanted for anything. Hell was portrayed as a place you wouldn't wish upon your worst enemy, unless it was that bully that shoved you into the girls bathroom when you a kid. Well now that we have grown up...or at least older I think we tend to take things we were told at face value alot less often, and that includes the issue of heaven and hell. The part I question now is the guidelines and how it is determined who goes where and why, I have my doubts that the requirements are as stringent as we were told as children. Does one sin send a person to hell if he has lived a life of good? To me that just doesn't seem fair, nor does it seem right. Or that a serial killer begs for forgiveness before he is to be executed, his slate is cleared and he avoids a date with Satan. I don't want to seem glib or that I am questioning God's existence, but somewhere something doesn't add up. Former President Clinton out on the campaign trail this past week eluded that Sarah Palin might be popular due to the fact she has a downs syndrome child, well I am not a big supported of Clinton and his "bubba" mentality. I believe with the proper handling Sarah Palin will come into her own, and prove that she can be a dominate force on the domestic and international political scene. I do have my doubts about whether John McCain can provide antiquate leadership to navigate us through these tough times, his age and his abilities leave me with large question marks. Well thats all for now, or at least until I think of some more "stuff" to write about..be good, be safe.

Dismas (the good thief) was promised by Jesus a place in God's House a place by his side. It is not easy to become a believer. I believe that God wants us to question him. He does want not robots--he wants those that love him because they want to. not out of fear.

Sorry, there.this is not for me.No faith here.
The only faith that I have is us and my family.
But I do have faith in you.

Christ told the thief on the cross that today he would be with him in paradise. I guess that protrays the abounding love of God. I was taught that there was only one sin great enough to send one to Hell and that is the sin of disbelief. Being a Southern Baptist, I belief in grace and the sanctity of the believer. Of couse, that does not give one a license to sin repeatedly, but exemplifies the strength of the blood of Christ. We are human and can never fully understand God's just and loving nature.
