The Reality of This Political Campaign

Maybe I have become a tad cynical as I grow older, I would like to be more of an optimist..like my pal Martin but I don't see that happening anytime soon. So I view this current political campaign like I'd view a shooting star, it's here for a moment..you make your wish..and then it's gone. You listen to a candidate, and it doesn't matter which one either..they tell you their version of what they are going to do for this country and the people who live here. Lo and behold your candidate wins, whomever that might be..they go to Washington DC and in most cases the next time you see them it time for their reelection. But to be fair you do hear from them from time to time, like that relative thats too cheap to pay for a hotel and will stay with you until you run out of supplies/ and or patience..and then they disappear until the next time they need your help. I believe every politician, the ones that are "seasoned veterans" have a little larceny in their heart..or "you can't be a pig without getting a little mud on you". All you have to do is look around at some of the people that have run, or are running or office..'nuff said there. So maybe the smart money is on Barrack Obama, he's young an idealistic and not yet a Washington insider. But the ticket becomes somewhat equal when you consider how long his running mate(Joe Biden)has been involved in the Washington political machine. Then there is John McCain, he's another old political warhorse..an throwback from the days of snake oil salesman that traveled from town to town peddling their bill of goods to whomever would give them the time of day. I guess what I am saying is that this political race will come down to what our idea of what we are looking in a candidate, or what direction we want to see this country go in. But I feel that whoever should win there will be a lot of people disappointed, even though they have voted for the winner. For in the end promises are seldom kept and dreams are sometimes unfulfilled..like the gas tank of my SUV.

I agree with your Obama comment - now wish I had some smart money; seems a lot of our money has gone for taxes that pay for an unnecessary war (not smart at all) - hopefully that will change. The problem is, and the weight the Obama Change advocates have to drag, is the newly passed $700 Billion bailout. It will be years before we get that money back and in the mean time the resulting deficit (added to the huge war debt) will have to slow potential changes for the better - conclusion: you are RIGHT

It seems to me that it's been going on forever... unlike that shooting star! Also, a shooting star is beautiful. There have been some rather un-beautiful moments in this campaign. Well, I think of people like Paul Newman (RIP), that did his job, kept himself private, and didn't get the Oscars that he deserved because he wouldn't play "the game." I guess it's inevitable, as you've said, to get sullied by those that you come in contact with... So who can we depend on? I hope we come out of this one in one piece!

One of the problems is that it seems THIS election has been going on forever !!! And that really is so liyttle difference betweren teh parties and the men running for the office--I feel both are well intentioned but they as individuals can do very little without their party!

Here,Here, good post Tim.The last lines says it all.
No one is going to be happy with either one of them.
But we need to vote and get this country going in the
right direction.Their work is cut out for them.
Thursday nite should be a hoot.Palin and Bidden will go at it.
This should be very interesting.
