George Carlin Dead at 71
Comedian George Carlin passed away at the age of 71 in Los Angeles yesterday. Politically speaking I didn't agree with some of Georges views, but I have to say he was one of my favorite stand-up comedians..right behind Robin Williams. George had a unique style, he was blunt and honest in his routine. I believe he spoke for a generation in a time where answers to our societies ills were few and far between. He called our leaders to task for their leadership abilities, or lack thereof. If anything he also brought up subjects that we had thought about but never questioned, mostly out of a fear of looking ignorant. Everything from religion to the stuff in your refrigerator, no topic was safe when George took the stage. This November George Carlin was to recive the Mark Twain award at the Kennedy Center, I can only imagine what George would have to say if he had lived to be able to accept this award, probably something along the lines of..ain't this a bitch! Farewell George you will be missed.
