The man took a look
A look into his past
Relationships he had
That somehow didn't last.
Something he did not do
Some area which he did lack
Wanting to turn the hands of time
And maybe go back.
For now he was wiser
With wisdom he became older
And with the onset of age
He found himself bolder.
Willing to take a risk
To take that chance
Actually approach that woman
And ask her for a dance.
Not always be concerned
About appearance or looks
Someone he could talk to
About movies or books.
Just to be content
For the soft touch of a hand
Living for the moment
Without any other plan.
Sitting on the front porch
Swaying on a swing
Enjoying each others company
Taking what the day might bring.
If he had a wish
That's what he'd want to do
To be able at the end of the day
Simply say..I love you.
