With the falling of the snow
Comes the last gasp of the Fall
The wind whistles through the pines
As Winter comes to call.
Snowflakes dancing
As they fall from the sky
Slowly tumble to the ground
Like a tear I wipe one from my eye.
I appreciate the quiet
A stillness one can't describe
Like a fine wine
An elixir in which you imbibe.
Soon you will be warm
A fireplace safe and cozy
With the daylight fading
It will be the place to be.
Watching the embers
As they burn and glow
Sharing the night
With those you love and know.
As you close your eyes to sleep
The wind will blow
Your last thought before you drift off
Let it snow.
