Rested, Renewed, Revived!

Have ya missed me?? Oh come on...I've been gone five days. Surely someone out there missed my ranting and raving about nothing in particular.
Arrived at the cabin on Friday morning and didn't emerge until Sunday morning when we went to Dollywood! The arts and crafts festival is in full swing and it took us two days to see it all.  What amazing tallents some folk have.  These were actual items made by real folks here in the good old U. S. of A.!! Not in China or Bangladesh or Mexico or anywhere outside of the borders.Very vew outside the local area of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg or other places you could not pronounce unless you are from around here.  I picked up a few Christmas gifts and a couple of things I decided I could not live without.  It was wonderful to watch as hands carved wood, spun flax into thread, wove thread into cloth, or worked leather into a purse or saddle or even slippers. Some people were making candy, blowing glass, painting, playing instruments, etc and etc and etc!!  It was worth the time to wander through the park and watch these people work their magic.
Evenings were spent in the hot tub on the back porch with the coolness of the mountain air whispering across the way. We were in our own private world. We were secluded from the Dow-Jones report, Obama/McCain chats, Palin slamming, and anything else that would cloud our minds or interupt our small space of peace on Earth.  We had a TV with dish, internet access and other means of communication. We chose to not let them barge into this time of just enjoying each other's company and a good cup of coffee. I didn't even take the laptop out of the case.  The cell phones were on and family and friends knew they could call if necessary.  The Grand Girls did call on Sunday to wish Hubby a "Happy Pappy Birthday"...and that was a welcomed intrusion!!
This morning as we packed to leave I bemoaned the fact that we had not taken our usual drive through Cades Cove.  As we departed Pigeon Forge, Hubby turned left instead of right and I knew immediately that the Cove would indeed be our last stop before heading home.
About 3 miles before the entrance of the Cove we spotted a mama bear with two cubs! They were just off the road, sitting calmly beneath some trees munching on what I supposed to be acorns or walnuts. Cars started stopping so people could see the rare sight.  We all had the good sense to give them their space and enjoy the sight from the safety of the car!  I look at bears like I do sharks.  If I am visiting their home (the woods or the ocean), I should not intrude.  If they come to my house and attack me, then we have issues! Any way...everyone who has half a brain knows you do not approach a mama bear with cubs! This is on the "most dangerous" list and could even be in the top 10!
Now we are back home. I get to go to work tomorrow. I don't have to, I get to work. I'm thankful I have the physical ability to hold down a job. I am thankful I get to do something that brings me self-satisfaction plus a paycheck.  I won't complain about getting up in the morning and pulling a set of scrubs out of the closet and heading 1.6 miles to the hospital.  Well....I may complain a little about getting up at two cracks before dawn, but that's just me.  Remember, I'm a night person pulled into the day-shift world. I will survive.  I will adapt.  Pass the high-test, full strenght, 100% Colombian coffee made by Juan Valdez himself and no one gets hurt!
So...what have ya'll been up to??? I haven't opened up my newspapers or turned on the news to see if any of you all made the headlines.
Mz Scarlett...there's no place like home, except the little cabin in the mountains!

I'm jealous...wish I could do that. Maybe one year I will rent a cabin on the north shore in Hawaii and just enjoy the time in nature. It's kind of spendy, which is why I said maybe one year. Glad you had such a great time and got to relax!

Glad you are back but, don't you wish you could just stay there? It is soooo beautiful!! We loved our trip there and didn't want to leave. So peaceful and serene. We saw a Mama bear and her cubs on our way up to Clingman's Dome. Yikes!! Loved Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN and also Cherokee, NC. When we were there they hadn't built Dollywood yet but, it was in the making. Would love to go back someday soon. Hope you took some pics. Were the leaves still real pretty and colorful?
