Rainy Day in Georgia, Thought Go A'wandering

It is a quiet Sunday afternoon here in North Georgia...Not in Tennessee as someone suggested. I'll deal with him later.

It is softly raining, the TV is playing Easy Listening from Sirus radio. Hubby and two spoiled chihuahuas are contemplating the finer things of life from the inside of their eyelids snuggled in the recliner.

My mind is on traveling again. At the beginning of 2012 I had no idea I would finish an advanced nursing degree and travel to Arequipa, Peru with a medical mission group. Just for hoots I pulled up the web site to see where they are going in 2013. Some places are not safe and I don't think I should take the chance of travel there. I keep going back to the page on Romania. This trip is in October. I have time to think, pray, and save my money.

One trip to a third world country changed my life, my outlook, my thinking process on what is important and what is fluff.

We gripe and complain about what all is going on in America. I realize we do not live in a perfect country, but we are rich beyond belief. Our president is not perfect, but then he is the leader of the best country in the free world. I can stand in my shower and have hot water flow for a long time. I do not have to wait for a mission group to come to get medical care or glasses. I can drink from the garden hose or inside faucet without worry of dying from some disease.

I think I'll Google Romania again and think of what I could do to help just one person there.

Mz Scarlett feeling quite thankful to be an American...and a Southerner, too!

Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for.

My cousin married a Romanian, and one of their daughters lived there for a couple of years volunteering at an orphanage. Her letters home were heartbreaking but uplifting at the same time.
