Who Writes a Song About Cake?

I was raised on some pretty strange varieties of music genres. My mother was a bit of a hippy and listened to Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, Led Zepplin…… Oh and Santana.

My Dad listened to old country. At the time, I hated it but as I've gotten older, when I hear a Patsy Cline, Waylne Jennings, Don Williams, Loretta Lynn or Conway Twitty song, I get a warm and fuzzy feeling in my belly.

But for some reason yesterday the DUMBEST song ever to be written popped into my head from the ol days.... I don't remember who sang it or all the words but these lyrics kept going through my head:

Someone left the cake out in the rain.
And I don’t think that I can take it
Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe agaaaiiiaaan...ooooh ooooh

That's almost as stupid as this song.... another I only remember this part:

Hello Wall..... I didn't see you standing there.

Boy they don't write em like that anymore.. Ha

This was a fun post, the song that still cracks me up is From Queen who I absolutely love.... I think it's called Bicycle?
"I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike"...... over and over again!

I've heard that one line referenced in different TV shows and movies, "And I'll never have that recipe agaaaiiiaaan...ooooh ooooh" and I've always wondered where it was from. Scrolling down, I now see the answer. That's another one to check off life's mystery list!

Donna Summer also sang the "cake out in the rain" song on her disco album. Now that date's me!

Somebody else may have done it long after Harris did the song. He didn't write it, though. I can't recall who wrote it but it was a famous songwriter.

Richard Harris, who was a star on the Broadway hit, CAMELOT, sang it on his only album.
