Just a few unbelievable things I wanted to mention...
1. Wednesday our co-workers held us a nice little good-bye lunch at Moxie's. There was a big turn out -- even folks who left the company years ago. We were both unbelievably surprised and flattered.
2. Payroll really wanted to attend our special lunch yesterday, but she decided to pass because she felt that her time would be better spent having a conference call with HR about our pending contracts. Payroll has been so sweet and proactive. She really is unbelievable.
3. However, for the second time this week, HR cancelled her meeting with Payroll. It's been three weeks since we first gave our notice and we still have no contracts. Argh... that woman is friggin' unbelievable!
4. Later Wednesday afternoon we were spoiled some more with ice cream cake and gifts. Everyone pitched in for the gifts which were intended to celebrate our upcoming marriage, to congratulate us on our success, and to say good-bye.
For inspiration we received a $70(!) gift card to Blockbuster.
For our brainstorming sessions we received another $70(!) gift card to Blendz coffee shop which is down the path by our place.
To celebrate when our movie finally gets made (...someday), we received an expensive bottle of Champagne from Summerhill Pyramid Winery.
Then there was also another $20 bill stuffed in one of the gift bags from someone who must've pitched in late or something.
J n' I couldn't get over our co-workers' extreme generosity... especially since we'll still be working 10 hours a week (that is if HR ever gets around to issuing our contracts). Either way, the whole gesture was absolutely unbelievable!
5. Yesterday after work we went to buy a lottery ticket since the Lotto 6/49 was up to $43 Million. This was apparently the biggest lottery of the year. (We don't have those mega Powerball lotteries like those of you south of the border; however, our winnings are tax free in Canada, so I guess that makes up for it.)
Anyhoo, yesterday J suggested that since the lotto was so huge, and since that extra $20 in the gift bag was essentially "found money", that we should just take our chances and buy a bunch of quick picks with it. I laughed and told him he was crazy... but he bought the 10 quick picks anyway.
Well, this morning we decided to check our tickets, and lo n' behold, we won $201.20! Unbelievable!!!
And those are my unbelievable stories. :)
