The Trip and Other Things

Well we had a blast in Milwaukee.

My dad picked us up from Chicago's O'Hare airport. It was GREAT to see him! He had rented a car for an upcoming trip so he wasn't 100% acclimated to it. Anywho - we went through a toll that was taking too long for my father - we picked the wrong line and ended up having to wait about a minute, so he decided to back up and switch lanes. I was like Dad are ya sure ya wanna back out of this lane??? There were literally two cars in front of us. Anyways, he decided it had to be done, and the next thing ya hear is SMACK! We hit someone. There was a car behind us. My dad swore he couldn't see the car because he wasn't used to the rental. Uh huh. So my dad motions to the person that we would pull over on the other side of the toll. We pull over, as does the car we smacked into, and I decided this was a perfect opportunity to get my water out of my backpack in the trunk. My dad pops the trunk and all three of us get out of the car. The kid we hit came out of his car, looked at the lack of damage and said it was fine, also commented on my dad's packers sweatshirt and said "Well I hafta let ya go with that sweatshirt on!" Mind you we had Illinois plates. In retrospect, that poor kid was prolly like wtf? The trunk is popped (to get our oozey's) 3 people pop out of the car - it was prolly a little strange looking. haha

So we made it the rest of the way with no further instances. My dad wanted me to call my mom to let her know we were coming, so I called her and said that Dad was in an accident but we were about 10 minutes away. My mom was like oh, but Dad's in an accident? It was funny - I made sure to clear that up quickly so she wasn't worried, but she thought R and I left my dad in a wreck somewhere...

We ended up going out with my cousins Friday night - it was a lot of fun. We met up with them at about 12:30am (1:30 our time!) and then got breakfast at Webb's. LOOOOOVE me some Webb's. Webb's is like the biggest mybloggers spoon you could ever imagine. YUMMY (that was for you Hayduke)

The next day was fun as well. We all went out on the booze cruise - fun times although cold, then went to a couple bars, the Safehouse being one of them. I wasn't impressed with that place though - it was hella confusing (which it's supposed to be) and it reminded me of the Spy Museum on crack. Not impressed. But we had fun none the less.

Sunday was great. We had brunch with my brother and his family - it was good family time! Then we were dropped back off at O'Hare (NO TRAFFIC!!! WHAT????) and off we went. Or so we thought. There was a 2 hour delay while we were on the plane so that sucked. We didn't get back home til about 2am. Luckily we were able to go in late to work yesterday...

There is more I want to say but that's all for now! HAPPY TUESDAY!

Gotta love the chilli at Webbs and the two clocks side by side in all of them...that's certainly a Milwaukee thing...as is the Safehouse...we usually take people there from out of town...it's a novelty...if you happened to notice the only blue building downtown, that where my office is...you need to take in Miller Park some time or Summerfest (world's largest music festival) on the lake front the end of June and early July or Harley's 105th. Birthday Bash this summer and even check out the new Harley Museum...the Boss will be playing at their big bash and plenty of bikers rumbling around town....we also have a lot of ethinic festivals on the lakefront all summer (Polish, Irish, German, Italian, Native American, Mexican, etc..)

Your Dad drives like my Dad does.
Sounds like a good time was had by all except the kid at the toll booth. I almost forgot that you had a booze cruise planned. Happy you made it back safe even though a little delayed and tired!

What a terrific guy! If you feel inclined to hit someone, it is good that he is a kind person and not one with road rage!

If somebody backed into my truck and three people got out with an open trunk, I'd be looking for trouble! That is actually a tactic used by carjackers--a minor accident to get the victim to stop--so be alert if it ever happens to you an a quiet road. Use yer cell to call the cops, but don't stop if the situation looks suspicious. Ok, aside from the PSA.... Good to hear that you had such a good time!
