I Saw Red!

Man what a morning!!!

I woke up, cuddled for a few minutes with the Kraymer on my bed, then got up and we went for our walk. He was fine, as far as I knew... When we got in the house I noticed little reddish/pinkish droplets everywhere. Oh geez here we go again I thought! I wasn't AS concerned, because it wasn't dark like they were before which I knew was straight blood.

I sat down with a paper towel and started applying pressure to his neck. After about ten minutes I realized I was going to run out of paper towels. I ran to get more while I told him to stay, which he did. I got back to a puddle of blood below the bubba's neck. I kept applying pressure.

After a half an hour I was like alright, I hafta shower. I wrapped his neck up well and hopped in for a shower. As soon as I got out he was at the tub to greet me - and so was the blood. CRIPES! I ended up drying off and waking up R so he could apply pressure for awhile. Luckily R was not at all hesitant, got right out of bed and sat with the paper towels and my Kraymer til I was dressed and semi ready to go.

By this time (an hour later) it was starting to subside. It was still active but a lot less than when it first began.

AND the best part - this is a GOOD THING! He had a very large swelling above his wound which the vet was worried about. Apparently most of it decided to drain this morning, so now it's not nearly as big as it was, which is good.

I am anxious to check on him at lunch. We left him with his ecollar on - and we left him in the living room (so he couldn't be bleeding on beds) so I am curious to see the scale of mess I need to clean up. BUT, it's a good thing.

I called the vet before I left the house because I wasn't sure how to leave him, but they were all in appt's whatever, so I just left him with his ecollar. The vet got back to me within the hour (about a half hour actually) and said she thinks it's a good thing as well and said that we could very well be on the road to recovery now. YAY! YAY! YAY!

The funny thing is that I was thinking I might hop on the treadmill for ten minutes then ice & heat Kraymers neck for the 20 minutes I am supposed to every morning. Well that went out the window!

Next week I hope to be back on par with the working out and the eating. This week is SHOT! But my Kraymer (and my sleep!)is more important anyways...

Anyways, HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! YAY WEEKEND!!!

I sure hope he is on the road to recovery and that you can soon put all of this behind you.

The draining of the lump does indeed sound like a good thing! Have a great weekend, kid!

Kraymer head is more important than a workout. Once he's recovered you can certainly get back to the treadmill without concern. I'm so glad that he's on the road to recovery!!!

Gosh that must have been very unsettling! I am so happy to hear that maybe things will be looking up now. Happy Friday to you also!
