Occupy DC

Ron and I went into DC yesterday to meet up with some friends at the Waterfront area. I had never been so I was excited. Apparently it was all flooded out this spring, and it is still not even close to what it was, which is sad, but it was still pretty.

We got to DC about an hour before we were meeting our friends, so we decided to see if we could find Occupy DC. We did! And how interesting... I told Ron if there was a parking spot nearby I'd like to wander around the park they are in. Lucky for us, there was a spot! So I took some pictures I thought I would share. It was pretty darn stinky there, I guess from the port-a-potties (I hope???) haha

This is the one I found funniest because the sign says Camping Prohibited.

People had a lot of interesting signs up...

More signs

We also ended up talking to a guy in front of the "library" tent. He gave us a copy of their newsletter. I haven't gone through it yet but he was an interesting fellow.

Time to watch some football. I am not sure who I want to win and I am super excited to watch my Packers next Sunday!!!

Happy weekend peeps!

I didn't know if the Occupy people were still around or not. Porta potties can be stinky if they are not maintained.

They are in DC... I am not sure about any where else though.

Tent camping for a week is enough for me. I don't know how those protesters do it. Wonder who provides the port-a-toilets?

Fairly certain the gov't does, which doesn't that go against what they stand for? I am sure the businesses nearby didn't want them traipsing in and out though... They sure are stinky!

I certainly hope the message gets through. The only messages that seem to
get through are those from people like the horrid Santorium.

*Shudder*

I respect the occupy people, because so many of us complain about the government and how Congress needs to be reformed, but that's all we do - complain. Obviously it is against the self-interests of our elected officials to change anything once they are in office (and they are all about self-interest), so it's pointless to keep yapping about what they 'should' do. At least the Occupy folks are trying to deliver a stronger message.

I agree - they feel very strongly and they are standing strong. I wouldn't want to be camping out there though. There have been reports that rats are prolific in the area.

I have to admit that I want nothing to do with Occupy LA. I support what they are doing but I'm not gonna camp out and protest with them.

And GO TEAM!
