The Last Man-toy for Awhile

This man-toy really isn't a big deal, but it has so many neat features that I figure I'll share the word on Coleman. I was looking at the Weber Baby-Qs, and this is similar. Coleman has been around for years and makes everything camping, and this grill is at home on the deck as well as attached to one of the trailer's duel gas tanks at a campground.

Notice the built-in thermometer. The 6foot gas line coming from the back is an adapter that enables the unit to attach to 20 or 30 pound tanks. By default, it uses a 16 ounce disposable cylinder which is convenient for tent camping, but not the best way to go when larger quantities of LP are available. The unit folds down to a height of about a foot and wheels around like luggage.

The burners are substantial and the grates are in two sections. No need for brushes; they can be easily removed for regular cleaning. The grease tray is a tray, not a can, and can be lined with foil. If you vaguely remember that the old grill had something to do with the garage fire, you're correct, but I won't be using this on indoors, and I'll be keeping the grease tray empty.

In other news, here's a before and now shot of where the garage was.....

I whacked some of the trees that needed to be removed, but the tree guy will have to do these two spruce.

That's scheduled for Wednesday. On Monday we have to go before the Zoning Board of Appeals and request a variance so the new garage can be placed within 4 feet of the property line rather than 10 feet in. After all that is done and the new garage is on site, that graveled area will be finished--partly with soil for a rock garden by the ferns and partly with crusher run where the old garage was for parking.

It will be nice when it's done!

I'm still waiting to hear from the glaucoma surgeon. It's nice to be getting things done, but that needs to be done too. I had to cut down on the med he prescribed, the $hit was killing me (and I mean that somewhat literally) by the sixth day. I had used it 30 years ago, but things have changed, and I'm using BP meds and aspirin, and I couldn't function.

The drought seems to be over: We only got .6 inch, but some of the areas that got downpours got 2+ inches. There is more rain in the forecast for the coming week, and the lawn will start growing again, and I'll get to ride the last man-toy again!

Happy summer!

I want Sweet Baby Ray's on my hamburger. Your grill is super neat. I have never seen a folding one.

I cooked country style pork ribs on it last night. I'm more impressed with it each time I use it!

Looks good for cooking the veggies!!! hehe

Yup! It produces enough heat that the burner under the veggies can be turned off and the other burner on med-low. I haven't tried it yet, but I will after the next grocery run!

Since getting our house in 2003, Ed and I have yet to do a cookout. We inherited a couple of old grills. But I like our indoor fare quite well and like to avoid the extra work a cookout would involve. Your new grill looks really neat. If I had one like that, I might change my mind.

I like being outside during the summer. Sometimes we do backyard camping, and the grill is more convenient than a wood fire. Naturally I use wood at the campground...it's part of what camping is for me!

Hey John. Love the grill, but I prefer charcoal. Your new one is probably cheaper in the long run. Good luck with the garage issue.

I never had the patience for coal. The fire would be just right by the time I was finished cooking. But I use coal when I use the smoker...have nothing against it!

verah cool grill. I saw one at Lowe's a coupla weeks ago that I'd give my left...uh arm..yeah that's it..arm for. It had this little gas burner on the side to heat up sauces, baked beans etc. Unfortunately, I live in an apartment and would have no place to store it and I haven't got almost $300 to throw down a rat hole. ah, well

reguards
yer I'll bring the "refreshments" to the cookout pal

My buddy... the guy I was with when I bought this, insists on a side burner because he boils sweet corn while he's cooking. I don't, so I want a small grill with good heat, which is exactly what I found! Too bad ya can't have one.

I really like that barbecue. I'm always looking for a nice one like that, I'll take a look at Coleman. One time we were in Wichita, KS where their factory is/was(?) located and toured the Coleman museum. It was fun to see the camping gear we remembered from when we were kids.

I cooked a butterflied boneless lamb leg on it for dinner. I'm really impressed now! The heat output was excellent. After preheating the grill for 5 minutes, I put the meat on the left side with no heat and the right burner set at slightly above low. It turned out excellent, and nothing burned.

Guess Mike and I along with Martin will be there for the cookout.
Why not have a new toy.If you want something do it.No need to explain.
Enjoy the life that you are used to.I know that this guy does.
Good luck.I want my hamburg well done with cheese on top along with pepper and onion a slice of tomato.Throw in some chips.Thanks.Will see you then.

Sounds like you have me confused with Burger King! You asked for everything except "special sauce"!
I know what you mean about new toys. For years I *got by* without a riding mower, but I needed one.... There was never a lot of money when I was a kid, so I learned to spend it wisely. I know I'll drop dead without spending a lot of what I should be spending, but there's never a right time. Can't get past that "save for a rainy day" mentality, which isn't all bad. But from now on, I will at least buy what I need when I need it.
