The other day I was wondering how the folks in drought areas are making out and I actually like to see what real people are up too, not a 30 second staged sound-bite on the news. So I searched youtube and couldn't believe how many "garden updates' I found from all over the country.
I did find exactly what I was looking for: a guy in Arizona who described in detail his drip irrigation system for a front yard garden, another guy who seemed to plant at random, but knew where all his plants were. And some larger family farm type places with rows of each crop. Anyway, that was my permission to do my own Garden Update. I'd like to have some of this in time-lapse. from three leaves to what you see now. Some of my tomato plants are all but buried in squash. I try every year to make sure there will be walking space between each row, but I haven't gotten it right yet.
4C Camp for Adults held its last pre-camp planning meeting yesterday. Everything came together although it all happens behind schedule. Hopefully we will get that right next year. Many of the folks who conduct workshops are away for the winter and the schedule should be complete before they can be contacted to confirm their workshops.
I'm ready to go now!! We'll be taking the camper again this year and Donna's sister isn't coming. So hopefully her friend will bring friend's husband and stay in a cabin and we won't have any tenants on the coach. I actually doubt that the couch in the living room area of the camper is any more comfortable than the accommodations provided by the camp, but Donna is a people-please at all costs, so I'll make the best of it one way or the other.
All the firewood is split and stacked and I picked up two more cords from a guy so I have about 5 cords on hand. That should be more than enough for even the coldest winter. Now all I have left to do is glaze a few windows and paint around the frames and everything that needs to be done this summer will be done and the outside of the house will look great with the new siding and painted windows.
The dry spell seems to be over so now I actually need to hope for a few dry days in a row. Of course, dry camping comes first!

I'm impressed with the video. Heck, I can't even add photos to my posts! My squash got the vine borers, not to mention the lack of rain. Zippo.
This encourages me to make videos. How neat!
I envy your garden.
Have a wonderful time on your camping trip. We will take your rain and keep you dry if only it were possible. You can't imagine how tough this August is. If I can't get in the house by eight a.m.. the heat is overwhelming. I still have zucchini and tomatoes though. My miniscule garden keeps going on and producing but that will come to an end since it is over 80 degrees at night.
My garden spacing is a nightmare. I, too, tried to make sure there was room enough, but I think squash and zucchini all take up as much space as you'll allow them.
For me 'summer stuff' is swimming, going to the beach or pool, tanning, eating lunch (indoors with a/c), hitting a movie--wait! Wait! I do that all year round!!
I love it! Thanks, John.
you are way ahead of us.We lost our man who has been supply us with wood so many years and now we have to look for a new one.Whew!this was so long and may be tired(kidding) Good luck with the camping there.
Your camping trips sound like fun when you tell us about them. I hope this year is another good one! And I also hope you can stay dry.
