Try a Little Kindness

Today, a group of six men came to our new house and re-roofed the entire thing in about five hours. They wanted NOTHING in return, except a Mexican food meal at a restaurant they like. I'm overwhelmed by their generosity (most of them came from more than thirty miles away). It brings tears to my eyes. As soon as the carpet is installed, Jenn and I can move in. Dad and Mom, as well as my in-laws, have been great, letting us live with them during this time of transition. That time is almost over. People have been so kind and generous, it makes me feel really small and humbled and extremely grateful.
I'll post pics of the new (and old) roof as soon as I can. In the hustle and bustle of today, I forgot to take pictures. I'm sure you understand.
It feels like repairing this home has taken over our lives. I'm sure we'll return to a sense of normalcy soon. I cannot wait.

It's great to hear about your progress and the support of your family and friends. Big hugs to the two and 1/2 or so of you.

I like the 2 and 1/2 part. We just had a baby appt today and all is well. We're so excited. Only two months to go.

How lovely ... how did this group hear of your need? Enjoy your "odd" roof.

It came up when he asked me what we had left to do on the house.

In spite of the old adage that no good deed goes unpunished, when people give, they almost always are rewarded. And if they are not, they will be.

I prefer the "What goes around, comes around" adage. Hope you are well.

We are both so happy for you. People can be wonderful and might I add
that you two are so giving and lovable that it makes people want to be
good to you.

Good is found most everywhere that good is handed out as graciously as you two have. (Did that make sense?)

Made perfect sense, except my friends have been better to me than I deserve. Take care.

Who were those "masked" men? From out of nowhere?! Every now and then, my faith in mankind is restored.

They're great friends. BTW, I was just in Indiana this weekend, near Bedford in a town called Grantsburg.

In spite of the news and all the 'bad' in the world people will/can always surprise you!
