Blogging from the Car Part 1

I'm using the voice feature on my cellphone, so there's no telling what you may read here. We left at 535 am. Kansas is interminable. We have 4 hours to go yet. My apologies to the good folks of kansas, but your state is flat and dull and boring. And people said oklahoma was ugly. Honestly, I love the miles in miles a beautiful wheat fields. BUT FORTUNATELY, WE HAVE JUST PASSED OVER INTO BEAUTIFUL COLORFUL COLORADO. Strangely, more wheatfields.
Sofia is vigorously resisting the torture device of a wet wipe rubbed acrossacross her nose. But it seems she has some kind of cold and her nose must be clean. The waterboarding will continue until the issue is resolved.
More later.

yeah, could never figure out why Dorothy just had to get back to Kansas. (In case you're wondering, I am working my way through 100 MyBloggers posts I didn't have time to read a while ago.)

Kansas competes with boredom and loses. Been there, done that!

After many journeys through Kansas, it finally grew on me - the little towns out in the middle of nowhere with the single church steeple sticking up above the canopy of trees. The stone fence posts you start seeing towards the eastern side of the state because there were no trees for posts. The wheat harvest: machinery in golden fields against a dark purple rain-heavy sky. Cozy Inn in Salina that serves tiny hamburger sliders. There's that Christmas light place in Kansas that I think is just west of the Interstate - big light arrangements and the displays are motion activated so they light up as you walk through the warehouse. There used to be a good Mexican restaurant in Russell. We like to stay in Abilene, home of the Greyhound Racing Hall of Fame (as well as Precious Moments Museum) but the timing is seldom right for it. There is a nice used book store in Manhattan with cats (except you turn at Salina). But yes, in between those highlights it's a bit dull. I think I-80 through Wyoming is worse. Eastern Colorado isn't much to look at, either. But at day's end you find yourself somewhere good.

How cool to blog in your car! Strangely, I always liked Kansas. Don't know why. Check out Hutchinson on the way back. Fantastic Space museum there. On second thought, wait 'til Sofia gets older.

Something to disagree about-- blogging or doing ANYTHING that will take your attention off the road and/or driving should not be done! Sorry--especially with a child in the car.

Easy, tiger. It was nothing more than speaking into the phone. I actually pulled over to post the article. However, I DO agree with you.

I can read your accent!
If you like wheat fields, you would like Saskatchewan.

In fact, on our way up here, I was thinking, "We've gotta make it to Canada some day." We sure spent enough time south of the US border. I'd like to try the place to our north for a while.

You sure have made good time. I agree. Kansas is my least favorite state.
There aren't even any interesting stops along the way. We loved the okra
and I am saving half for shrimp gumbo tomorrow. I am so glad that Fredo
and Mike enjoyed our state. Have fun.

I'm glad they enjoyed it, too. We were here by before 5pm. Dinner was delicious. Pie to die for. I'll never forget this vacation! And now I can see why you guys are such good friends. They are "neat" people.

I don't find Oklahoma dull, either. But then again that's home to me.
