School began for me on September 5th. For my first semester of Architecture School I'm taking the following courses: PHY 101 College Physics, MTH 121 (it's a simple math course all freshman have to take), ARC 101 Architect Design Studio 1 (this is the class I'm most excited about taking), and ARC121 Intro to Architecture (this is in lecture hall). It's a heavy load but I'm pretty sure I can handle it. I HAVE to do well. The university that I'm attending expects its Architecture students to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.70 to remain in the program.
Tuition at my university is $8600 a semester - that includes applied grants and financial assistance. I worked my ass off this summer making sure I'd have enough in my savings to cover it. I wouldn't be able to live on campus, that's for sure - housing is way too expensive. Besides, I have it so good living at home, so I really can't complain at all. I'm sure I will though. It would be fun living on the campus just for the experience of it, but I've got a few friends who are in their Sophomore and Junior years at the college and live in their own apartments. I'm sure I'll be going to my fair share of college parties this year! :)
An interesting thing I learned on campus this week, was that our LGBT Resource Center is having a welcome reception for LGBT and allied (straight/gay supportive) students. It's being held at the Union Fireside Hall - should be fun. I'm definitely going to it. It'll only last from 5:30-7:30, Wednesday, so it won't be a late night. There might be some interesting people to meet!
I am so whipped. My eyes are closing and my belly is empty. I did the grocery shopping in the rain (not fun) - fish sounds good tonight. My Mom is working late, so my Dad and I will be enjoying my delicious food. We both like salmon, so that's what we'll be eating!
Hope you all enjoy the weekend! I'll be sleeping in!!:)
