'Tis a sad day, blog pals. Cutting edge comic legend and Bugg fave George Carlin died on Sunday. He was 71. Known for his biting wit, social commentary and sometimes salty language, Mr. Carlin was one of the innovators and forunners of todays comic talent. I always found him side splittingly funny and am sad today that his comic light will no longer shine He leaves behind a wife and a daughter. In his memory, I'd like to offer a selection of some of his most humerous quotes.
"Frisbeetanianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck"
"Before they had drawing boards, what did they go back to?"
"Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?"
"If all the world's a stage, where is the audience sitting?"
"Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that half of them are stupider than that."
"If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little."
"If you can't beat them, arrange to have them beaten."
"Most people work just hard enough not to get fired and get paid just enough money not to quit.'
"One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor."
"When you're born, you get a ticket to the freak show. When you're born in America, you get a front row seat."
He'll be missed. Oh. and for the record, the "seven dirty words you can't say on television are: "shit", "piss", "fuck", "cunt", "cocksucker", "motherfucker", and "tits". Actually its down to six now because I can't turn on any cop or drama show now without hearing the word "piss" at least once.
