Spokespersons for the Bugg For Poobah campaign said today that the campaign would not participate in the federal program to fund presidental campaigns. In a direct statement, the candidate herself said "I have always thought that public financing of presidential campaigns was lame. All the "soft money" floating around negates the noble purpose of the law's original intent. Once elected I intend to get this ridiculous program repealed. I, for one, can think of better ways for the gub'ment to throw $80 million down a rat hole."
Afterward, Ms. Bugg was seen in the company of a distinguised looking gentleman with pronounced grey temples. He was seen handing Ms. Bugg a fat manilla envelope labeled FROM THE "GANG" AT THE PORK STORE
Ms. Bugg: "Tanks, Paulie. I owe ya one."
Gentleman (pointing in a distinctive first and little finger gesture): "My pleasure, toots. Oh, and Tony sez to tell yas Carmella wants yous to stop by the house Sunday for dinner. She's making yer favorite...chicken parm."
Ms. Bugg (chuckling): "Now that really IS an offer I can't refuse."
