A beautiful, easy-to-maintain hedge plant
    *native plant

Cocoplum is one of the best and most common hedges in
south Florida. It is easier to maintain than the more popular Ficus. It
does not grow as fast, which means it requires less trimming.

Used for formal and natural hedges, Cocoplum is most
commonly seen as the "Red tip" cultivar.

Note: Cocoplum's berries are edible.

Hurray! Surprised it's edible. I'm no botanist, but the offer to classify trees at Gateway in the dead of winter is mighty tempting! But now, "I have my love to keep me warm"!!!!

It sure IS messy! I'm glad you found the answer. No wonder you didn't remember what the flowers looked like - they were 'insignificant.' Are you going to eat one?
