Morton's Restaurant Review

THE LEAP YEAR CACTUS KEEPS BLOOMING

A
restaurant I have heard a lot about was Morton's Steakhouse which has
gotten rave reviews from most of the food critics and I have been
looking forward to eating there primarily because it has been a long
time since I have been to a steakhouse. I was aware they are very
expensive, that everything was a la carte, but the meat was suppose to
be the best served in restaurant

Getting to the entrance of the restaurant
isn't very obvious and we had to drive around the block where we found
the valet station. It turns out there is no charge for the service
except for the tip. The server was prompt in greeting us, getting our
soft drinks and the busboy immediately placed a warm loaf of onion bread
on the table. I did look for a butter knife but it seems they only
provide a serrated knife to slice and butter the bread. The condiment
containers come straight from a diner but I must admit the the pig lamp
stand is different--not attractive but different.

I
went for Prime Ribs and they only had 2 left which was strange as it
was early, 7 PM--none rare or medium rare---oh wait they only cooked one
rack of ribs--5 portions-- though it is the special of the night--oh
wait again--they will not be serving PR anymore--in any case Gamaroff's
down in Hallendale serves a better, just as big a Prime rib, at $12.95
instead of $55.

That's
one thing I noticed--they do not mention/show prices on their web site
and as soon as I got my copy of the menu I knew why--for 2 PR ($110) 1
order of (mybloggers) hash-browns( $11) 1 carrot cake ($11.50) 1 Creme
Brulee ($11) 2 sodas ($8.50) plus tax plus tip the check came to ($196)
and the food wasn't any better than what you could get at Gamaroff's or
The Ark, nor were the surroundings any better than a Taps42,  Duffy's
(without the TVs), Appleebees or any of the other Corporate restaurants
this company owns--like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.

Nothing
wrong with the service but can't the company afford to serve a butter
knife with the bread and butter instead of a steak knife???
All in
all the place is average and a check for $196, without alcohol, for 2
needs more than average!!!! Even if you were paying I wouldn't go back
there.

This was/is part of my 19th Leap Year birthday celebration and I know it has to get better!

At least there is complimentary valet parking!

Ridiculous prices. What I don't understand is why it looks all chopped up in that picture, with what looks like some kind of pink mashed potatoes smeared on top of the meat.

It didn't look that bad but the same cut looked better at Gamaroff's at a MUCH cheaper price

The Morton's in Chicago got us PR after 9 p.m.! And it was worthwhile, although I make it slightly better. LOL

Oy.. I couldn't imagine spending that much $$ for what you got. But, I suppose if it was something you wanted to do....
