Hurricane Nicole or High Tides???

For the first time in the 23 years I have been living here at Gateway I have been unable to go food shopping! And for the first time in 43 years, since I moved back to Fort Lauderdale, I have been unable to get my lottery tickets for the week! (If my numbers come out tonight who can/do I sue?!?!?!??!?)

I don't know how much is due to Hurricane Nicole or the high tides or the combination of both! We did have heavy rains (along with wind gusts) last night and a lot of the beach streets were flooded with water AND sand but we had our 'normal' flooding by the time I went to sleep and when I woke up this morning the sun was shining so I was surprised to see everything around the building flooded!
Our driveway was deep in water and the entranceway was almost impossible to come in.

By the time Allen called to say he was on his way down to pick me up I told him to drive slowly and maybe it wouldn't be as bad by the time he got here---WRONG!!! He called me to say the police had all the blocks surrounding us blocked and looking around I knew there was no way I could get out to where he might be. We decided he will come back tomorrow and we will do our food shopping tomorrow!! (Hopefully, last night was the 'high' of the hide tides and the streets won't be blocked off tomorrow!!)

I am going to have to have a talk with Mother Nature about this nonsense!! She is just lucky I have some carrot cake (I keep one for emergencies and this is definitely an emergency!!) to get me through the day and night!)

In the pictures the very last one on the right on the bottom (where the #3 is) is the entrance to Gateway which is completely blocked with water--cars can't get in or out! The #1s are my backyard along the canal and the #2s are the driveway.

I think Mother Nature wants to have a word with all of us.

The damn thing is coming here on Friday night. But it hasn't rained in days so we can handle a few inches.

It just waved at us as it went by---the high tide did more damage than the rain!
