Autumn in Flotida: Trees, Leaves & Flowers

I
always hear, "I couldn't live in Florida. I would miss the 'seasons'!"
Hey folks we have 'seasons', I mean beside hurricane season, rainy
season, tourist season and summer season. Right now we are in the Fall
season like the rest of the country is--the humidity is almost nil, the
temperatures are as low as the 70s (come on, come on, just two weeks ago
they were in the 90s) the pool water is to cold to swim in--for some!
More proof is the following:

Notice the leaves changing colors along with falling to the ground?

Talking
about trees I am  a little stressed. I have posted many pictures of the
3 story high white Bird of Paradise tree we have growing behind
building C which is a favorite of mine. The tree trimmers 'attacked'
last week cutting it almost in half and I have a feeling it will be a
long time before we see flowers blooming again!

BEFORE

AFTER

While
it may be Fall we never lose sight of the fact that this is South
Florida and that we have color all year long as these flowers attest to:

Welcome to our Season(s)

"The reason to forgive is for your own sake.

For our own health. Because beyond that point needed

for healing, if we hold on to our anger we stop growing

and our souls begin to shrivel."

But you don't have enough leaves to rake, do you? I love the flowers, especially the beautiful red hibiscus.

Are you ever get tired of being a braggadocio. We loved four season.
comment by fredo on Oct 27, 2011 11:45 AM ()
Nope--and you can keep your 4 seasons but stop complaining about the weather!!!

Oh sure, you have seasons. A few leaves on the ground. Hope the bird of paradise will be okay. There are a couple of the orange kind at one of the casinos in Las Vegas. They bloom in the spring there.
comment by troutbend on Oct 26, 2011 8:08 PM ()
The orange birds are quite common here--grow wild.

Very pretty pictures. I do have to say that 70's sounds nice, but I am with John. That is not really what autumns should feel like.
comment by trekbrarian on Oct 26, 2011 6:11 PM ()
When the temperature drops 20 degrees and a hurricane is on the way, maybe, it is Autumn!
reply by greatmartin on Oct 26, 2011 7:09 PM ()
70 degrees is SUMMER! (period) (Ok, exclamation point)
comment by jjoohhnn on Oct 26, 2011 6:01 PM ()
