What a day it has been! I had to take mom for an MRI today at noon. Kota was as good as gold for me so I could be in the room with mom while it was done. So he earned a toy from the dollar store. We dropped mom off around 1 and headed for home. Well me and kota were pretty hungry so we decided to detour into town for burger king. We hardly ever eat fast food! Well we were getting closer to the turn off when all of a sudden traffic just stopped. I knew it had to be an accident. I hate seeing an accident, it shakes me up so badly. Well we were on the south bound side and the accident was on the north bound side. As we were coming up on it a helicopter took off. Not a good sign. When we got to it I saw a red car facing the wrong way on the highway, burned out. And a small SUV on the side of the highway, with the top cut off. Like with the jaws of life. Well we figured by the time we got done eating it would be all cleared up. They kept the highway closed for 4 hours. Meaning there were fatalities. Getting home was an adventure. What would normally take us 10 minutes took us an hour and a half. And here is why. They were detouring the highway traffic down my road! I was never so happy to get home in my life. I blew the horn like crazy when we pulled in to the driveway. Kota stood down by the road waving at everyone. Lots of people waved back and one guy said, I bet you have never seen this many cars in your life!
I can't imagine how this accident happened. It happened in front of a convenience store so I might go in there tomorrow to ask them what happened. Accidents are scary things and it just makes me want to plead with all of you. Please take it slow out there. Better to get somewhere late than to not get there at all. I can only imagine the families who were involved and hearing the news that a loved one had been killed. People on this highway fly down it and they ignore all the traffic laws. They don't use turn signals, they cross the highway where it says no left turn, they just get in such a hurry and don't dare let one car get ahead of them. so please, take it easy when you are out driving.
Tomorrow I am not leaving the house! I have been on the go since Friday and I need time to just do nothing!

That's always upsetting to me as well. I always worry about the family and the person, hoping that they are okay.

I don't understand why people are always in too much of a hurry. Life is too short anyway without endangering yourself and others. We all need to slow down, take a breath, and appreciate our wonderful gifts. You have a peaceful day, Mary.

Gosh I'm so sorry. That is hard. Living where we do we come up on accidents all the time sadly. Just about every time we go somewhere. Yes, people are in too big of hurry these days.

Accidents can really be disturbing. I know it usually makes me wonder about the people that were hurt.

I am glad you guys weren't in the accident. And you are right, it's better to take it slow, although I rarely do...

Yesh... accidents like that make my stomach quiver. How horrible. Glad to hear you eventually made it home safe and sound. After the weekend you've had, you totally deserve a Do Nothing Day tomorrow.
