The Park

The trip to the park was great. A perfect day. Its 68 degrees with a nice breeze blowing. I have determined the kota can befriend anyway. He had kids younger than him, his age, and older than him. The older kids thought he was hysterical. I watched him for a while then took out my book to read, occasionally looking up to check on him. what I did find funny is the different types of moms. I was in jeans and a tee shirt. I have no problem with kota getting dirty, he had on play clothes, sweatpants and tee shirt. Most of the moms there were what I call yuppies. They were in the lastest spring fashions. their kids had clothes on the matched and looked brand new. they were the kids constantly getting told not to get dirty. I had to chuckle. Why take the kids to a playground if they aren't allowed to get dirty? They have a trail at this park, through the woods and over a creek. We love the creek. We walked down there and just watched the water rippling by. Kota asked if there were any crocs.  I told him Delaware doesn't have crocs.
All that fresh air has really tuckered me out! Can I take a nap now?

68 degrees? Be still my heart! We, on the other hand, just got another four inches of snow two days ago....

Sounds like you and Kota had a great time. I agree that a mom shouldn't take their child to a park if they aren't going to let them get dirty. My daughter was so funny when she was little...she always found her way to the dirt and then played in it. There could have been playground equipment to play on, but she seemed to much prefer the dirt. It's good for kids to get dirty every now and again.

Just curious--how do the other mothers react to Kota getting 'dirty' being a kid???

its natural for kids to get dirty whilst playing. its no fun otherwise. sounds like you and Kota had a great time. He'll remember and cherish these moments long after he's grown with kids of his own.
