Vultures

It seems that every time there is some sort of disaster, the
vultures arrive to feed on the victims. I can just imagine what is going on near the oil spill.

Our recent hail storm, which did not hit all of Oklahoma
City because it is a large, sprawling community, has made every homeowner subject to an avalanche of roofers wanting to give us a free roof inspection. I have had three calls today and two were the same Japenese guy with Nationwide
roofing. I don't appreciate this because the calls always
come at mealtime.

Never mind, they can't ruin my bliss. My flowers are blooming and it is a joy to go outside. It is a l00 degrees
but I am used to the heat.

Ellie and I are going to get up early and go to an estate
sale. We are looking for furniture for Adriennes room.
We love the James Bean estate sales and there is one that
is pretty close to us. We would love to find a couple of
twin headboards. James Bean died in a fire and these sales
are in part a tribute to him by his friends. He died trying
to save his pets. They follow a standard pattern. They are full price until three p. m. 25%off from three to four
and the next day they are half off. I like to leave a bid
for a little more than half if I see something I like. I
really don't need anything but there are some nesting tables
that I would like to have.

I think Estate sales are pretty sad. I am sure my children
will call James Bean when I die and I have instructed them
to do so. Bobby and Ellie like extreme contemporary and
Linda likes moderate contemporary and I like English Country
and a dash of oriental and French stuff in the living room.
At least I know our treasures will be treated in a respectful manner if the J. B. people handle it.

Yikes, I just got my third call from the Japenese guy at
Nationwide roofing!

It is sad to see someone's cherished things sold but it is consoling to know that someone will love them as much as you did.

Annoying about the phone calls. I don't miss having a home phone at all...

I know it. If you aren't listed the cranks can't get to you.

I still remember my daughter commenting about what to do about all my stuff when I die! Ouch.

You betcha they will have a big one but some of the treasures they are bound to keep.

Yes, my son will have a giant estate sale for sure when I pass on. I have a lot of early American tiger oak- which they despise. I only worry what will happen to my art.

By that time, you will be well known and if they sell it they will get
a lot of money.

You mean we can't take stuff with us? When I first knew Ed, he was acting as executor of his neighbor's estate I needed furniture and he took me to her apartment. I walked around mentally apologizing to the late tenant, although I had never known her. Yes, estate sales are sad.
