Redwolftimes lovely Christmas poem made me appreciate the
Christmas tree even more. Each ornament tells a story and
each one dates from a time in our family that is sentimental
and precious.

My oldest ornament is one of Bobby's baby shoes. It is
worn and tattered but tells the story of his so active
toddlerhood. There is the little sleigh loaded with a tiny
Christmas tree and packages that my favorite sister in law
made for us. There is a variety of homemade ornaments,
dear to my heart. Then, there are sleeker, trendier ones
that feature peacocks.

Ted made a wooden tree top angel, twenty eight Christmas's
ago that I love. We need to rehab her with a little
glitter so she has more sparkle but she represents our
first Christmas together.

In essence, The Christmas tree tells the story of our family.

None of the ornaments from my childhood were home-made but ornaments used to be more intricate and unusual and unpacking them each year was always special . I don't know if any survive. If they do, they are buried in my b.i.l.'s garage and lost to me.

I consider it good luck to have ornaments made by your family, reminders of them all on the tree. A friend's family now puts photos in tiny frames on their tree since they lost their father.

I love the old ornaments. Adrienne made me a Thanksgiving turkey when she
was three and I used it in my Thanksgiving centerpiece. She probably had
a lot of help from her nursery school teacher but it is dear to me.
