Re-reading Jane Austen

Evil sisters, sly cousins and scheming matrons abound in that
world. It is hard to believe women were once so docile on
top and such manipulative creatures underneath. We really
have come a long way, Baby!!

I also am reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tratt. It is a
huge book and very interesting but hard to read in bed because
of the bulk and heft. It is of special interest to the
artists because of the art history sprinkled within. Jane
makes lovely bedtime reading because her books are thin and
always turn out like you want them to and the characters that
you hate get their just deserts.

I need to go to the Base and do some food shopping. They have
the best meats and produce around. It is only a couple of
miles but I dread going because it is hard to get a parking
spot.

I wish a holiday filled with Peace and love for all of you.

Are you cooking the Christmas dinner? Is Donna eating carbs now and then?
You need to write a post so we will know these things.

I think I told you I'm listening to an audio book called Langbourne that has all the Pride and Prejudice characters, but told from the servants' point of view. If I didn't know Jane Austen's version of the story, I don't think I'd be able to follow what was going on. I think authors who publish those giant books are on an ego trip - they need to pare down the verbiage and certainly could do so without losing the meaning, but they think every single word is so important. Hugs to all there.

I recently read a book based on the sister who ran off with the rogue and
it was very good but I have forgotten the name of it. I imagine Langbourne
is interesting too. Jane Austen certainly has stood the test of time and
she would probably chuckle if she new English majors were studying every
word she wrote over 200 years ago.
