Opps!

The flu bug has stopped and is hovering over my family.
Ellie has it, I think that I may have had a light case of
it since I have a bad cold that just won't go away and
Ted came down with it this morning. Ted and I both have
had our flu shots. I am so glad that Ted vetoed a New
Year's day open house.

It is horribly cold. It was fifteen last night but hopefully it will warm up before I have to run errands today. We can
never get used to the cold but the little patches of warm
weather in between cold spells are a blessing. I always
fill up with gas and wash my car on those days.

You may have heard that we had four earthquakes yesterday.
One was mentioned on the National news. I felt the last
one but the others were so early that they passed me by.
I attribute this to the oil industry. They frak their
wells to get the last drop of oil and it is taking a toll
on all of us. I have earthquake insurance but it is getting
hard to get. Insurance companies increasingly want out of
Oklahoma because of our freaky weather.

insurance coverage for waterfront has long been overpriced and getting harder to get in our area -- we are lucky to have any at all. Sorry you have to deal with being sick.

Unfortunately, your earthquakes weren't mentioned locally. They need to be, tho, since they are becoming common in fracking states. NY has managed to keep fracking out for now, but that won't last indefinitely. If fracking was banned everywhere it wouldn't be long before some genius figured out how to do it with ultrasound or some other less damaging method, but they have to have it now!
As for the cold: we'll be hitting -10s on Friday and almost as cold for the other nights this week. I don't know how folks west of here do it with -20 and -30s. Even this is too cold for me.

I am glad New York State has managed to control the oil industry. It is a
mixed blessing to have so much oil in Oklahoma that is only obtainable by
fraking. We never had earthquakes before this started.

I'm sure Ted is drinking lots of fluids, and hope you are, too. I've read that chicken soup really does help.
